Africa Fashion Week London 2012 (AFWL)

On the 3rd and 4th of August this year, talented designers from across the African continent will come together for a memorable event of glitz and glamour. The show will be hosted in London, Spitalfields Market Hall. The official partner for the event is MIZANI (Salon Brand division of L’oreal USA).
The show is aimed at showcasing unique African designs which have been incorporated with Western designs to produce chic yet classy looks.
This is the second of its kind since its launch last year. The African Fashion Week London 2012 year embraces African designers resident in the United Kingdom and also from across the African continent who have an eye for style.
As the countdown begins for the event, Londoners and other nationals waiting to attend the Olympics games which will kick off this summer will have the chance to catch a glimpse of what African designers and stylists have to offer. This will enhance the overall outlook on the continent as well as opening new doors for investment opportunities from potential investors who will be present.
Ronke Ademiluyi, CEO of Africa Fashion Week London says:
“We were astounded by the level of support shown to AFWL last year. This time round, we are taking things to a higher level, with a bigger venue it’s hoped the event will reach a higher magnitude. By promoting African fashion globally we hope to integrate African countries into the fashion industry and also contribute to the reduction of poverty by developing the fashion and textile industry”.
Ronke hopes to make this event the biggest African fashion show in the United Kingdom.

African fashion week

Glitz Africa Magazine, a Ghanaian owned celebrity/lifestyle magazine that embraces fashion and celebrates fashion designers across Africa especially in Ghana, has announced that its first Fashion Week will hold in Accra from August 17- 19, 2012.

The Glitz Africa Fashion Week is tailored to provide the platform for Africa’s Fashion industry to showcase its talents, network, celebrate each other and expose them to unexplored markets. It will be an international 3-day event at the Accra International Conference Centre on the 17th, 18th and 19th of August 2012.

The team will select from a list of top designers of African origin from Ghana, United Kingdom, United States of America and the entire African continent to showcase at 1 venue with 10 fashion shows in 3 days, 40 international models, Seminars/Exhibition and International press.

The Publisher of Glitz Africa Magazine, Claudia Lumor shared her reason for this concept, ‘one of the biggest and the fastest growing industries in the world is the fashion industry. This is because of the emergence of daring and dynamic young talents who are not shy to push the boundaries of creativity in the industry. The Fashion Industry needs various platforms like fashion weeks to sustain its rate of growth and for various brands to leverage and draw synergy from the glitz and glamour to promote themselves’.

The Glitz Africa Fashion week promises an unequalled opportunity for various brands to draw parallel with their targets.

We look forward to having a unique experience come August**
